Bristol-based experimental rock band LICE have returned with their new single, ‘Mown In Circles’. The band do an impressive job of musically representing the track’s lyrics, which are focused on language and misinformation. They do so via jumps between genres as diverse as minimalism, techno and rock, with ease. Glitchy vocals, huge guitar stabs and tender piano arpeggios combine beneath. On the inspiration behind the track, they say: “Like the history of lying itself, it’s full of circles: Dante’s eighth circle of hell (liars), the geocentric model in ancient astronomy, a medieval news report on crop circles, and the flying saucer nests in 1960s Australia.” ‘Mown In Circles’ is taken from the band’s upcoming album, Third Time At The Beach, which is a three-part epic designed to explore the struggle to understand the world that drops on September 20th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
